Outdoor landscape and travel photographer based in San Francisco. Most days you’ll find me in the great outdoors, hiking up to peaks and alpine lakes for those epic sunrise and sunset alpenglow colors.
I began my journey as an award-winning photojournalist for my high school paper, then continued it at UC Berkeley’s Daily Cal. After college, I caught the travel bug and started taking photos that told the story of beautiful cities around the world. Since then I’ve traveled to 30 countries in 30 years and have refined my skills along the way.
"Cities and countries are as alive, as feeling, as fickle and uncertain as people. Their degrees of love and devotion are as varying as with any human relation." -- Roman Payne
This collection consists of 8 pieces from cities that I got comfortable in. You know - that moment when you switch from “visiting” a place to “living” there. When you have your coffee shop that you go to every morning, your lunch place with the owner who knows you… that’s when a city worms its way into your heart.
These aren't typical city shots - they aim to capture the essence of a place and represent the memory I have of it. Each of them includes a description of my relationship with the city and my goal with the shot.
